Fair Market Rent Mail Survey

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) annually estimates and publishes Fair Market Rents (FMRs) for metropolitan and nonmetropolitan county FMR areas. Public comments allow local government officials or residents to identify areas where they believe FMRs are too high or too low. Econometrica performed a survey of households for the Housing Authority of the City of Asheville to demonstrate whether a change was warranted from the proposed FY 2022 HUD FMRs. The results of the survey allowed the housing authority to successfully appeal their FMRs.
