Key Work Areas: Instructional Design, Webinar Facilitation and Support, Technical Expert Panels, Environmental Scan, Rapid Qualitative Analysis
Econometrica collaborated with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ), National Center for Excellence in Primary Care Research (NCEPCR) to identify and understand the needs of Primary Care Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs) and to develop a new set of tools and resources reflective of these needs.
Our team convened a Technical Expert Panel (TEP) of 32 PBRN affiliates who provided key perspectives about the areas of PBRN need, recommended useful tools and resources, and directly assisted in the development of the PBRN Learning Series. Additionally, the TEP informed key improvements to the PBRN Registry. Econometrica undertook an outreach initiative to PBRNs listed in the PBRN Registry to verify and update listing information. Following the outreach and registry update, the team developed a sustainability plan to ensure continuous maintenance of the PBRN Registry. To read about the convening of the TEP and the overall findings related to PBRNs’ experiences, needs, and areas of support, please view AHRQ Initiative to Identify and Support the Needs of Primary Care PBRNs: Final PBRN Technical Expert Panel Results.
Lastly, in partnership with Mathematica, the team conducted an environmental scan to identify PBRN publications over the last 10 years. The Primary Care Practice-Based Research Networks and Publications, 2014–2023: Synthesis Report describes the landscape of the identified PBRN research and publications and suggests future opportunities to advance this work. Econometrica and Mathematica also developed a scientific manuscript related to these overarching findings.
