Project Highlights
SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA):
- Office of the Inspector General (OIG): Supported SBA’s OIG in developing and deploying analytic tools to detect and prevent fraud across SBA loan programs.
FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISION (FCC):
- Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Fund: Supported FCC in identifying improper disbursements of TRS funds through preparing and carrying out plans for statistical sampling methodology and conducting statistical analyses.
- Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC): Supported audits of multiple USAC programs through preparing and carrying out plans for random sampling and conducting statistical analysis.
- Evaluated CMS’ use of recovery audit contractors (RACs): Identify and correct improper payments for Part A or B Medicare services. Work included developing a sampling plan and creating a sample of RAC-reviewed claims for use in the ongoing RAC validation.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD):
- Supported audits conducted by multiple DOD components (Navy OIG, Marine Corp OIG, U.S. Transportation Command, and Defense Information Systems Agency). The support included developing and carrying out random sampling strategies, conducting analyses of the random samples of audits, and extrapolating findings.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD):
- HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH): Identified errors in Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) subsidy amounts and recommended approaches to error correction.
CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID SERVICES (CMS):
- Open Payment Program Analytics: Ongoing Support for the Open Payments Program in maximizing program compliance via a suite of data analytics services, including big data processing, machine learning, data visualization, program monitoring and evaluation and auditing.
