Econometrica is conducting a project that analyzes the health and safety of transit workers and the costs associated with their health and safety for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Econometrica will research cost estimates associated with health conditions and risks experienced by transit workers. Econometrica will conduct cost–benefit analyses of health promotion and protection programs at transit agencies. The analyses will measure the programs’ benefits, including savings from reduced absenteeism, turnover, and workers’ compensation payments, against their costs. These analyses will help identify programs that produce positive bottom-line effects for the fiscal health of transit agencies and the health of transit workers.
