Econometrica to Study Behaviors to Improve Traffic Safety
Econometrica will research behaviors and attitudes toward driving for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Bethesda, MD, October 2017
Econometrica, Inc., will work as part of a team led by Battelle Memorial Group to research the behaviors and attitudes of drivers and passengers for NHTSA’s Office of Behavioral Safety Research (OBSR). Econometrica aims to conduct behavioral research in order to identify risk factors involved in crashes and help develop safety measures.
Tasks under this IDIQ may involve collecting data, such as on pedestrians using mobile devices when crossing intersections; evaluating the effectiveness of driver safety classes; and conducting literature reviews on topics such as advanced safety systems, the legal language of distraction laws, and training older drivers. Additionally, Econometrica may be asked to conduct surveys using a variety of survey methods, such as focus groups and personal interviews, to gather data on road users.
“With smartphones and other distractions fighting for our attention on the road, it is important to collect data and conduct rigorous research to find effective ways to increase traffic safety,” said Cyrus Baghelai, Econometrica’s President and CEO.
