April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

In honor of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Econometrica, Inc., has joined the National Safety Council’s Road to Zero Coalition. The coalition focuses on ending traffic fatalities—a leading cause of unintentional death—on our roadways within 30 years. Partners and stakeholders will act together toward the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities by 2050.

According to the National Safety Council, traffic fatalities have increased 14 percent from 2014 to 2016, which is the largest 2-year increase in more than 50 years. Despite this alarming statistic, traffic fatalities can be prevented.

Econometrica demonstrates extensive experience and expertise in transportation safety. In a project for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Econometrica supported many rulemakings designed to improve safety for truck drivers and the public, such as regulating hours of truck drivers’ service on the road, regulating the use of electronic logging devices to keep track of driving hours, and accounting for the effects of diabetes on safe driving.

Over the past two decades, Econometrica has provided support services for the publication of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Traffic Safety Facts and FMCSA’s Large Truck and Bus Crash Facts. We look forward to working with other members to help the Road to Zero Coalition reach its goal of eliminating all traffic fatalities.
