Team Econometrica Walks to Help Friendship Place End Homelessness

Econometrica Joins Friendship Walks at the National Mall

On the brisk Saturday morning of November 3, Team Econometrica walked around the National Mall in Washington, DC, to show support for Friendship Place and its mission to end homelessness. The event started on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where participants warmed up with yoga and music from DJ EZ Street. Guest speakers, including Friendship Place CEO Jean-Michel Giraud, gave opening remarks, and one youth told her story of using Friendship Place’s services to find housing after struggling for a long period.

After the inspiring remarks, Team Econometrica joined the throng of orange-shirted participants on a walk toward the U.S. Capitol.

Every month, Econometrica organizes a social impact event to help raise awareness and give back to the community. In June, Econometrica chose Friendship Place to raise funds to celebrate Econometrica’s 20th anniversary. Friendship Place’s mission of ending homelessness and programs to help veterans find housing aligns well with Econometrica’s mission of offering technical assistance and support for housing projects.

Econometrica’s employees donated $275 for Friendship Walks and donated $1,396 in June for its 20th anniversary auction. October was also Housing America month and Econometrica chose to use Friendship Walks to highlight this event.

Friendship Walks ended with donuts and coffee and closing remarks from our Health Director, Dr. Monique Sheppard. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and celebrate Econometrica’s 20th anniversary!

Econometrica Collects In-Kind Donations for HOPE4All

Donations supported our unhoused and unemployed neighbors in their quest for housing or employment

Helping those in need is always a worthwhile cause. As part of its corporate social responsibility mission, Econometrica, Inc., takes this responsibility seriously.

Last month, employees filled two large boxes with household cleaning items, toiletries, and housewares for HOPE4All, which supports unhoused and unemployed people in their quest for housing and employment. The goal of this social impact cause was to provide the necessities to make the four walls into a home.

“We’re thrilled we can make small contributions each month to different nonprofits and charitable organizations,” Econometrica President/CEO Cyrus Baghelai said. “Moving into a new house or job can be a daunting experience and our donations are a small gesture of goodwill.”

HOPE4ALL, which is a ministry of Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, stands for Housing Opportunities and Permanent Employment for All. It works directly with people who are homeless and/or unemployed to support them on their journey to meet their goals for employment, health, and housing. Many of the items will go directly to the four HOPE4All participants who recently moved into their own apartments in Washington, DC.

Econometrica Volunteers to Help Protect the Anacostia Watershed

Econometrica Volunteers to Help Protect the Anacostia Watershed

Our employees got their hands dirty at a trash cleanup event to support the Anacostia Watershed Society

Several Econometrica employees woke up bright and early on September 22 and headed to the Anacostia Watershed to participate in a volunteer trash cleanup event in support of the Anacostia Watershed Society.

The Anacostia River Watershed is a region that covers 176 square miles of the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County and Montgomery County in Maryland. After centuries of industrialization and pollution, the watershed is rapidly recovering and transforming.

Our volunteers spent the morning filling countless bags of trash and helping to make the river cleaner! This event was part of the Anacostia Watershed Society’s ongoing research and data collection on the types and amounts of trash found in the water, which enables it to receive funding to continue this important work.

The Anacostia Watershed Society was formed in 1989 by a small group of citizens concerned about the environmental needs of the Anacostia River and its surrounding area. Today, the society is an advocacy group that does outreach across the metropolitan area to bring awareness to the impact of pollutants in and around our waterways. To find ways to support this organization, go to https://www.anacostiaws.org/landing-pages/you-make-a-difference.html.

Econometrica prides itself in helping the community around us. Each month, Econometrica has a designated social impact cause to bring employees together to do good things. Read posts from our past social impact causes.

Econometrica Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With an Auction Benefitting Friendship Place

Econometrica Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With an Auction Benefitting Friendship Place

Our employees marked the joyous occasion by donating to and participating in a silent auction

On June 29, 2018, Econometrica officially turned 20 years old! To celebrate this milestone, we hosted a silent auction. More than 58 Econometrica employees participated in the auction by donating services and goods or bidding on them. Some of the auction services our generous employees donated included Mandarin lessons, personalized Muay Thai boxing lessons, and a friendly statistics tutorial! The auction proved a great way to learn about the hidden talents of our employees. After some high-stakes bidding, we raised $1,396 in less than 1 hour!

All proceeds from the auction went to Friendship Place—a nonprofit dedicated to finding solutions to homelessness in the Washington, DC, metro area. Friendship Place’s mission of helping people find housing and supporting veterans aligns with Econometrica’s own mission and values. Over the past two decades, Econometrica’s Housing and Community Development Group has supported the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by helping public housing authorities fulfill their mission of providing affordable housing to households in need.

This year, Econometrica is marking its 20-year anniversary with monthly celebrations, which have included donating a tree, creating a memory book, and curating a time capsule. Throughout our history, we have been dedicated to helping our community and the wellbeing of citizens whether it is through our health, housing, and transportation projects or by doing community service. We look forward to our future and will continue to work hard to ensure we have happy employees and happy customers!

Econometrica Raises Thousands of Dollars for Hurricane Harvey Relief

Econometrica Raises Thousands of Dollars for Hurricane Harvey Relief

Funds Donated to the Central Texas Food Bank to Assist in Disaster Recovery

Over the past several months, Econometrica, Inc., has raised funds for the Central Texas Food Bank to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Hurricane Harvey deeply affected our friends in Texas, and we are proud to have raised $2,609.40.

Econometrica has numerous clients (past and present) and business associates throughout Texas, including along the coast and in Houston. Deeply saddened to witness the devastation from Hurricane Harvey, we set up a fundraising page to support the Central Texas Food Bank, which will use these funds to purchase disaster relief boxes and quickly distribute them to the individuals and families who need them most. The boxes are filled with necessary goods that are easy for those impacted by the storm to use.

Econometrica has long focused on projects that include disaster recovery, public health initiatives, public and affordable housing, and nutrition assistance/food security. We understand the basic, daily needs of people, especially following a disaster. We have supported implementation of the Katrina Disaster Housing Assistance Program and the follow-on Disaster Voucher Program—both programs that addressed the urgent housing needs of flood victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Following extensive flooding and landslides in Colorado in September 2013, we were contracted to provide onsite subject matter expertise in a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Joint Field Office to inform State, regional, and local economic recovery planning.

Econometrica Partners With Dress for Success

Econometrica Partners With Dress for Success

To start the new year right, Econometrica is collecting clothing donations for Dress for Success. Going to a job interview is nerve-wracking enough without having to worry about what to wear.

Dress for Success is a worldwide nonprofit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in both work and life. Part of that support is helping women prepare for (life-changing) job interviews.

Econometrica strongly believes in the empowerment of women and fostering positive change in the community. Organizing this clothing drive is the first event in a yearlong series of events to celebrate Econometrica’s 20-year anniversary. Stay tuned to see what we have planned for next month!
